Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

a. Format

The text should be single-spaced; use a 12-point font; employ italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. The file should be submitted in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF.

b. Types of articles and word length

Word length is flexible, but succintness is encouraged. For reasearch papers, data papers and case studies the article should focus on the research question, methodology, findings (including data where applicable), conclusions and recommendations.

c. Article Title Page

Acknowledgements, including declaration of all sources of external research funding

Author Biographies (max 100 words each)

Structured Abstract (max 250 words)

  • Purpose of article (required)
  • Design/methodology/approach of article (required)
  • Findings/results (required)

d. Body of the Article

This should be logically organised under appropriate headings, in the style that the author wishes the final article to appear in. The text should be grammatically correct, with use of either UK or US spellings. Illustrations, tables and figures should be embedded in the text at the appropriate points. References should be listed at the end, followed, if required, by footnotes then appendices.

e. References

References should use a standard citation style, e.g. Harvard or Vancouver, and this style should be used consistently. The URLs / DOIs of online sources should be provided.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. If the submission has been previously published, or is before another journal for consideration, the author has informed the Managing Editor and provided evidence of copyright permission to publish in the EBIS Journal.
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
 

Copyright Notice

Articles submitted to the journal must be the original work of the authors; not a copy of another author’s work; not infringing another’s copyright. Proper attribution must be provided for quotes, paraphrases and use of other’s ideas.

Copyright for articles published in the EBIS Journal remains with the authors. On submission of an article, the authors will grant the EBIS Journal a non-exclusive and irrevocable license to distribute the article. Articles published in the EBIS Journal will bear a CC-BY Creative Commons Licence (i.e. allowing others to distribute, rework, amend and build upon the article, even for commercial use, as long as they credit the authors of the original article).

 

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

 

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: 100.00 (GBP)
Authors are required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to journal running costs. The fee for student submissions is 50% that of the standard fee. If an author works for an organisation that has paid a membership fee, then no submission fee is required. Fee amounts are set by the Management Committee of the EBIS Journal Association.

In exceptional circumstances, fees may be waived on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Management Committee of the EBIS Journal Association.
